Anjila – film screening

Welcome to Anjila – film screening at The Ashford Cinema! Get ready for an unforgettable experience on September 21, 2025 at 1:30 PM (Europe/London). Doors open at 2pm and there will be a short Nepalese performance to start with.

“Anjila” is a leading football star in Nepal and this film is about her struggles, and achievements. It is a “bend it like Beckham” story against the backdrop of traditional Limbu Nepalese culture and set amongst the beautiful mountainous landscapes of the Himalayas. Anjila herself will be present to answer any questions at the end and we welcome her to this special screening. The film is subtitled in English.

There will be a short welcome reception for her at 1.30pm and people will be invited to take their seats for the screening that will start soon after 2pm. Prior to the screening there will be a short Nepalese performance from the Limbu people based in Ashford provided by the KYC Youth group of the Ashford Sagarmatha Nepalese community organised by Mr Shikhar Limbu.

This screening is part of a Nepalese Heritage and Interactive Exhibition Project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund and delivered by ShivaNova.
