Developed by the national cross cultural music company, Shiva Nova, the Orchestra from Everywhere consists of musicians from around the world who have chosen to make Britian their home. They come from Syria, Iran, Hong Kong, Palestine, Ukraine and India – and many are refugees settled here.
Using instruments including the Syrian oud, qanun, Iranian santur, Chinese guzheng, middle-eastern ney, Indian flute, South-Indian mrdangam, kanjira, djembe and world percussion, the orchestra plays traditional music from their own cultures as well as new music that they have developed together.
