Welcome to Winter World in a Tent fair in Dover! Join us on Sat Nov 23rd at St Mary’s Parish Centre for a celebration of diverse communities, cultures, landscapes and history of Dover. It will be an evening filled with stalls, world food, and performances. Explore unique crafts and gifts at the stalls, indulge in delicious international cuisine, and enjoy live entertainment through the night. It’s the perfect way to kick off the festive season with family and friends. There will be performances by the Orchestra from Everywhere made up of refugee musicians, singers and musicians performing a new arrangement of the well-known “White Cliffs of Dover” song with additional verses, some African drumming, Bollywood and Indian dancing for people to join in with, a display of Nepalese culture, heritage with dancing, Nepalese food + an exhibition by the Maison Dieu’s engagement team to celebrate the wonderful old Town hall building and its history. Hear stories of refugees and pilgrims welcomed through its doors over 800 years. Find out about the painstaking work to restore this spectacular neo-gothic building which re-opens next spring and how to get involved in its exciting 2025 programme. Make a big festive badge to celebrate Dover’s diverse communities, beautiful landscapes or rich history!
There will also be activities laid on by Kent AONB’s own Geoanimator on the landscapes around Dover – a wonderful opportunity for kids to meet the Kent AONB team !
Finally for the first time in Dover – a screening of the popular Nepalese film “Sugup” . Don’t miss out on this – it’s from 2.30-4.30pm at Dover Community Cinema. Entrance via Dover Museum, Market Square, Dover, CT16 1PH with a pre-screen talk at 1.30pm. After the screening join us at the fair from 5pm and tell us what you thought about the film over a cup of tea or coffee.

Doors open at 5.30pm for the fair. Performances from 6.30pm.
There will be a bar with mulled wine, beer and soft drinks.

Nepalese Film screening – 2.30- 4.30pm at Dover Community Cinema, entrance via Dover Museum. Pre-screening talk 1.30pm. Post screening discussion 5pm at the fair. The fair is a free event but please register to join our raffle where you will win a bottle of wine or a food voucher at the fair.
