Travelling to the festival:
\nBy foot: If you are coming from Ashford town centre please either walk over the footbridge next to Picture House on Elwick Road and cross the road and follow the path into Victoria park. The festival is next to the fountain.
\nBy car: If you are travelling by car you would need to park on on e of the residential roads around the park or in the Bowling Club’s car pa rk.
\nBy train: The closest train station is Ashford International a nd it is a 10 min walk from there down past Aldi and its on the opposite s ide of the road to Aldi. There is a footpath going into Victora Park to th e fountain end of the park
\nBy bus: There are public buses that go into Ashford and into the main station and also down Elwick Road which wil l bring you into town very close to Victoria Park. Please check the schedu le as it varies on Sundays and may be less frequent.

If the sign says road closed do not worry as it is the only way to get to Burgoyne Hei ghts. Aim for Burgoyne Heights Pre-school and you will see our marquees.\n

Latin Fiesta is a lively and entertaining Latin band\, playing popular modern salsa\, c umbia\, Pop-Latin and merengue dance hits. They are based in London\, but have travelled all over the world\, from Tunisia to Dubai!Latin Fiesta was started over 25 years ago\, by Colombian multi-instrumentalist Jairo\, an d with the addition of charismatic Spanish singer Lola\, they rapidly grew in fame and have been playing frequently at the UK’s top dance venues and festivals and at many private/corporate/wedding party events\, internatio nally.
\nThey are also the only band to have been invited back every year to perform at the West Dean Chilli Fiesta festival\, for the entire weekend.
\nThey are a charming group of authentic Latino musicians\, and engage actively with the audience\, are happy to demonstrate Latin da nce moves\, and their enthusiasm is infectious! Be prepared to “put on you r red shoes and dance” and learn some salsa!

The new Nepali/Limbu cultural movie “SUGUP” (Soo-Goop) is a movie that portrays the beliefs and rituals of Yakthung Limbu people durin g a woman’s pregnancy and childbirth time. The movie explores Limbu people ’s lifestyle in their homeland\, their beliefs derived from their spiritua l sacred text called MUNDHUM (Moon-Dhoom) in modern day village setting\, assimilated well with the mainstream Nepali culture along with their own Y akthung culture.
\nThe movie mainly focuses on the rituals that are performed by the family when a family member is pregnant\, and also focuse s on the hardened belief of Yakthung Limbu people that ignoring rituals wi ll bring omen to the mother and baby inside her womb.
\nThe term SUG UP itself is a fatal fate of a mother and/or the baby she is carrying in h er womb due to the shunning of mandatory rituals. SUGUP tries to portray m any other aspects of Limbu people and their cultural spectrum\, such as th eir traditional dances\, local markets\, foods\, beverages\, sacred ritual s etc.

Welcome to Anjila – film scree ning at The Ashford Cinema! Get ready for an unf orgettable experience on September 21\, 2025 at 1:30 PM (Europe/Lo ndon). Doors open at 2pm and there will be a short Nepalese perfo rmance to start with.
\n“Anjila” is a leading football star in Nepal and this film is about her struggles\, and achievements. It is a “bend it like Beckham” story against the backdrop of traditional Limbu Nepalese cu lture and set amongst the beautiful mountainous landscapes of the Himalaya s. Anjila herself will be present to answer any questions at the end and w e welcome her to this special screening. The film is subtitled in English.
\nThere will be a short welcome reception for her at 1.30pm and peo ple will be invited to take their seats for the screening that will start soon after 2pm. Prior to the screening there will be a short Nepalese perf ormance from the Limbu people based in Ashford provided by the KYC Youth g roup of the Ashford Sagarmatha Nepalese community organised by Mr Shikhar Limbu.

\nFeaturing Asian bollywood music and dance + a bollywood dance workshop + food stalls of traditi onal Indian and Nepalese delicacies available to buy + henna stalls.
\nWe will also have the acclaimed Dj Ritu MBE from Londo n and Club Kali fame playing her favourite selection of bhangra and bollyw ood hit songs.
\nHoli colours included and will be supplied at the event.

\nColour packets are provided but please have face wipes handy to be able to clean your face and hands at the end. Colour powder is hypoallergenic and easily washes off with wat er and does not stain clothes. If you wear white the colours show up more vividly – especially good if you want to take loads of photos.
