\nTATCHO DROM stage a vibrant show packed ful l of beautiful melodies and dancing rhythms from Eastern Europe and the Ba lkans. Their repertoire includes most of the well-known Balkan favourites\ , however\, their real musical heart beats for the hidden musical gems – s ongs and pieces which band leader Gundula Stojanova Gruen discovers on her numerous field trips to previous Ottoman regions\, learning and jamming w ith Balkan music masters.
\nTatcho Drom means ‘True Journey’\, in Rr omanes\, the language of Romany Gypsies. They are considered one of the UK ’s leading exponents of Romany Gypsy music. Inspired by the charisma of Es ma Redžepova\, the virtuosity of Taraf de Haïdouks and the humour of Emir Kusturica. Tatcho’s sound is guaranteed to lure listeners into a world of pain and joy\, delivering an exciting and memorable performance.
\nGundula Stojanova Gruen is a virtuoso violinist and singer who has travell ed extensively\, transcribing melodies that she learned first-hand from Gy psies and folk musicians. \nUzambezi delivers an exciting an d memorable performance of stirring and catchy South African songs with th eir dancing.
\nU’zambezi animate their songs with tradition al dancing\, ululation and African drumming. They offered a passion-fuelle d recital in an outdoor setting with gum-boot dancing\, traditional song a nd hip hop – to name a few of their acts. The group has played for dignita ries such as Nelson Mandela and Queen Elizabeth II. They have also contrib uted to events such as the Global Bandstand\, where they were hailed as\, ‘the equivalent of Ladysmith Black Mambazo’ (Global Bandstand Review).
\nThere will also be some specially prepared world cuisine. Food will be available during the event and will need to be booked in advance. Please book in ad vance for the drumming workshop.

Latin Fiesta is a lively and entertaining Latin band\, playi ng popular modern salsa\, cumbia\, Pop-Latin and merengue dance hits. They are based in London\, but have travelled all over the world\, from Tunisi a to Dubai!Latin Fiesta was started over 25 years ago\, by Colombian multi -instrumentalist Jairo\, and with the addition of charismatic Spanish sing er Lola\, they rapidly grew in fame and have been playing frequently at th e UK’s top dance venues and festivals and at many private/corporate/weddin g party events\, internationally.
\nThey are also the only band to h ave been invited back every year to perform at the West Dean Chilli Fiesta festival\, for the entire weekend.
\nThey are a charming group of a uthentic Latino musicians\, and engage actively with the audience\, are ha ppy to demonstrate Latin dance moves\, and their enthusiasm is infectious! Be prepared to “put on your red shoes and dance” and learn some salsa!

The new Nepali/Limbu cultural mov ie “SUGUP” (Soo-Goop) is a movie that portrays the beliefs and rituals of Yakthung Limbu people during a woman’s pregnancy and childbirth time. The movie explores Limbu people’s lifestyle in their homeland\, their beliefs derived from their spiritual sacred text called MUNDHUM (Moon-Dhoom) in mo dern day village setting\, assimilated well with the mainstream Nepali cul ture along with their own Yakthung culture.
\nThe movie mainly focus es on the rituals that are performed by the family when a family member is pregnant\, and also focuses on the hardened belief of Yakthung Limbu peop le that ignoring rituals will bring omen to the mother and baby inside her womb.
\nThe term SUGUP itself is a fatal fate of a mother and/or th e baby she is carrying in her womb due to the shunning of mandatory ritual s. SUGUP tries to portray many other aspects of Limbu people and their cul tural spectrum\, such as their traditional dances\, local markets\, foods\ , beverages\, sacred rituals etc.
\nThe movie contains both Khas Nep ali language and Yakthung Paan (Limbu Language) with English subtitles.

\nTATCHO DROM stage a vibrant show packed full of beautiful melodies and dancing rhythms from Eastern Europe and the Balkans . Their repertoire includes most of the well-known Balkan favourites\, how ever\, their real musical heart beats for the hidden musical gems – songs and pieces which band leader Gundula Stojanova Gruen discovers on her nume rous field trips to previous Ottoman regions\, learning and jamming with B alkan music masters.
\nTatcho Drom means ‘True Journey’\, in Rromane s\, the language of Romany Gypsies. They are considered one of the UK’s le ading exponents of Romany Gypsy music. Inspired by the charisma of Esma Re džepova\, the virtuosity of Taraf de Haïdouks and the humour of Emir Kustu rica. Tatcho’s sound is guaranteed to lure listeners into a world of pain and joy\, delivering an exciting and memorable performance.
\nGundul a Stojanova Gruen is a virtuoso violinist and singer who has travelled ext ensively\, transcribing melodies that she learned first-hand from Gypsies and folk musicians. Described by Songlines Magazine as ‘a shining star in the UK’s Balkan music scene’\, her unique performance style showcases a te chnical ability acquired through intensive conservatoire training as well as a colourful and charismatic personality. Her arrangements and compositi ons\, whilst drawing influence from her love and extensive knowledge of Ro many Gypsy music\, are original and highly personal.
\nPast performa nces include the main stages of Rhythm of the World and Crawley Festivals\ , the South Bank Centre\, Kings Place\, Equator’s Women of the World Festi val\, the Union Chapel as well as intimate\, unplugged performances at the Canterbury Festival and other unusual venues.
\nThere will also be some specially prep ared world cuisine by our chefs newly arrived who have their own home cate ring set-up in Kent. Food will be available during the event and will need to be booked in advance.

Welcome to Anjila – film screening at The Ashford Cinema! Get ready for an unforgettable experience on September 21\, 2025 at 1:30 PM (Europe/London). Doors open at 2pm and there wil l be a short Nepalese performance to start with.
\n“Anjila” is a lea ding football star in Nepal and this film is about her struggles\, and ach ievements. It is a “bend it like Beckham” story against the backdrop of tr aditional Limbu Nepalese culture and set amongst the beautiful mountainous landscapes of the Himalayas. Anjila herself will be present to answer any questions at the end and we welcome her to this special screening. The fi lm is subtitled in English.
\nThere will be a short welcome receptio n for her at 1.30pm and people will be invited to take their seats for the screening that will start soon after 2pm. Prior to the screening there wi ll be a short Nepalese performance from the Limbu people based in Ashford provided by the KYC Youth group of the Ashford Sagarmatha Nepalese communi ty organised by Mr Shikhar Limbu.
\nThis screening is part of a Nepa lese Heritage and Interactive Exhibition Project funded by National Lotter y Heritage Fund and delivered by ShivaNova.
